Welcome to Indie Filmmaker Commune, a new blog for independent filmmakers of all sizes to support one another and to share ideas and resources. My name is Bob Messinger. I’ve had a tremendously successful marketing and advertising career, during which I have also written many screenplays, all of which have won or placed in various script contests. Still, as most screenwriters know too well, the doors to Hollywood are slow to open. Because of my super-strong desire to see my work on screen, I have opted to go the independent route, raising my own money and doing it myself. Indeed, I am not the first to try to do so. I’ve learned that there are so many others out there like myself, most of whom are skilled in one aspect or another of film making, but not necessarily in all. It occurs to me that if we share our skill sets to help one another (for instance, I might be able share marketing or writing ideas, while someone else might be able to give me tips on creating a budget), we’ll all be more successful. To that end, I’ve created this blog, which I plan to enhance with new features as it grows. I’ve posted my first article, Independent Film Festival Stresses Writer Empowerment, about the feeling of empowerment I derived from recently attending a truly unique independent film festival. I hope you enjoy it. I look forward to your comments.
